Yahoo! Travel Designs

PROBLEM:

Yahoo! Travel had an outdated city guide page ... the page that had the largest percentage of traffic on the entire Yahoo! Travel site. It needed to be revamped and optimized to increase user engagment and clickthrough.

SOLUTION:

Assessed problems in existing page design through metrics based user testing and rearchitected the page based on testing and new business goals. Arrived at a design that raised user engagement and clickthrough, as well as providing a modern look and feel.

MY ROLE:

Lead designer, worked closely with product manager to assess issues with current page and complete a successful redesign.

Began the process with an in-depth look at metrics on current page. There were some clear issues and problem areas.

Assessed problems, redefined goals, and started wireframeing solutions

Moved slowly from wireframes into high fidelity visual designs to refine the final product. Bucket tested variations to lock down a design that was both elegant and performed well from a metrics perspective.

Also designed various degraded states for the cases when city guide info was either partial or completely unavailable from our content partners (these pages were automatically populated from a number of different sources).
