RoughCut Video Editing App : Adobe

PROBLEM:

While offering a host of applications for experienced, hands on video editors (Premiere, After Effects, etc.), Adobe had no offerings for amateur video enthusiasts or video pros who pitch ideas to tv networks and movie studio (producers). Adobe's existing apps are difficult to learn and require extensive ramp up time.

SOLUTION:

Collaborated on uncovering new opportunity areas in the video enthusiast space. Utiling lean methodology, I worked as a part of a team of three to conduct user interviews, concept, prototype, and refine ideas to address a new market. Created a fun, easy-to-use app to rough cut video and add simple text and effects. The architecture and UI was kept streamlined and simple in order to appeal to a market who was not interested in spending hours of training to learn professional editing methods.

MY ROLE:

Senior designer collaborating with user researcher, interaction designer, and prototypers.

High level architecture and structure of the proposed tablet app.

Since this was a rapid innovation project, the experience and design morphed a number of times. This is a sample of some of the interactions and designs which I explored over the course of the project.
